"I always pictured you working with people and helping others". These were the words of a family friend who helped me change my career path. I knew she was right and I knew my passion was to help students see math differently, not as a hated subject but as a challenge ready to be conquered. Through life we will come across many problems that need to be solved and I hope to help my students be prepared for what is ahead of them.
I had many amazing experiences as I studied middle childhood education at The Ohio State University. One of them was the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a physics by inquiry course, which helped to shape me as a teacher. I then continued on and got my Masters of Education. I started in New Albany teaching fourth grade for eight years before moving to middle school in 2015.
I am married to my best friend, Kyle. We have two beautiful daughters, Leila and Maggie. In between traveling this summer, we spent many days at the zoo and the library. During my free time, I like to read and exercise. I enjoy rooting for the Buckeyes during football and basketball season and the Reds during baseball season. I look forward to a great year and to all the fun we will have as we discover who we are as mathematicians.
