Degrees and Certifications:
Who is Ms. Swick? I graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Education. I just finished completing my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction this month!
I spent seven years teaching sixth and seventh grade language arts, in both rural and urban school districts, prior to taking time off to raise my children. I returned to the classroom full time as a fourth grade teacher for three years now, after serving as a district wide substitute for three years. Returning to a fourth grade classroom teaching math, social studies, and science, excites and inspires me. I am passionate about helping your children grow into independent, confident, life-long learners! I can easily say fourth grade is my FAVORITE grade to teach! Watching my students transform from shy and unsure third graders into confident and courageous fifth graders is truly an incredible part of their journey! A common theme found in my classroom is KINDNESS. I have very high expectations of my students in regard to their empathy and respectful treatment toward one another.
When I am not at school, I am a full time, single mom to two amazing kids! My son, Casey, is in tenth grade and an avid baseball player. My daughter, Riley, is in seventh grade and an avid dancer and middle school cheerleader. Both are very active which, in turn, keeps me on my toes, or, at the very least, keeps me in the car! I enjoy watching and supporting my children pursue their passions and dreams. In addition, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and supporting my students within the community!
