Ms. Kelley

Who knew I’d be an Eagle for life?! My name is Melissa Kelley and I have had the pleasure of teaching here in New Albany for almost the better half of the past two decades. I grew up locally in Sunbury, Ohio where I graduated from Big Walnut High School, who are also known as the Eagles! From there I went on to attend THE Ohio State University where I earned my undergraduate degree in English, pre-education, and then a Masters of Education in Middle Childhood Education. During my years of teaching in New Albany I have taught 7th grade social studies, 7th grade English, and my current assignment, 6th grade social studies at the Intermediate school. I so enjoy teaching middle-level students and love to see them develop their unique personalities, interests, and curiosity for learning as the school year progresses.

Being a mom to my sweet little daughter, Baylor, keeps me busy outside of teaching. During my free time I enjoy cheering on my Buckeyes and The Browns during football season, visiting the Smoky Mountains in the summer, and spending time at home with my family, taking walks, exercising, going to the pool, fishing, and hitting a trail for some hiking.

I have a great love for New Albany and its schools since it is the only school district for which I have taught and currently call it home. I hope to always have the opportunity and ability to continue my career here and one day happily retire having spent my life serving the amazing young people and families of this wonderful community!
