I am honored to be a New Albany Eagle and work in a district with a focus to create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for each student. We are committed to fostering an environment of kindness, dignity and respect. We are intentional about our instruction and our relationships with our students.
I graduated from Ohio Dominican University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and earned my Master’s in Education from Ashland University in 2008. It is a passion of mine to continuously learn and stay up to date with innovative practices in the classroom. I enjoy learning current research and implementing best practices into the classroom with focuses on the use of technology, social and emotional needs of each student, working with the gifted learner, helping the struggling learner, and using design thinking and problem based learning in the classroom. If there is a course offering, you can be assured that I will be there learning!
I started my teaching career with New Albany in 2005. I spent the first ten years teaching first grade and then moved to second grade. My philosophy is to encourage students to LOVE learning through school and community based projects, passion projects, and by focusing on the emotional needs of each child. I wholeheartedly believe that all children can reach their full potential when they feel safe, loved, and motivated. It is also very impactful when the teacher and the families communicate often and with empathy. I hope we will work as a team to ensure the success of your child. I promise you to always support and love your children. My desire is that each child will start and end the day with a smile!
Outside of the school day I spend my time with my husband and our five children, who also attend New Albany schools. We love to bike ride, go to the park, and just be outside! I am sure we will see you around New Albany at sports and extracurriculars! I look forward to a great year with all of you!
