• WHY DOES THE NEW ALBANY-PLAIN LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFER PRESCHOOL?

School districts are required to provide early childhood experiences to students with disabilities beginning when they are age 3.  New Albany-Plain Local Schools extends opportunities on a tuition basis for typically developing children (called “Peer Models”) to attend our Early Childhood program so that the learning environment for our children is comparable to those that are offered in community based programming.

I WANT MY CHILD TO ATTEND THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AT THE NEW ALBANY EARLY LEARNING CENTER, HOW DO I MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

To enroll your child into the New Albany-Plain Local School District preschool program you need to pre-register online to begin the enrollment process. Pre-Registration will be available on January 22, 2019 and can be accessed online at the New Albany Plain-Local School Enrollment Webpage.

The preschool pre-registration is on a first come, first serve basis. The online system will confirm that you are either pre-registered in a preschool classroom or placed on a waitlist. If pre-registering in a classroom, you will complete the pre-registration  process and submit the $125 registration fee (online). This fee is non-refundable.

You will receive a confirmation email which will prompt you to begin the online enrollment process. Upon completion of the online enrollment process you will receive a email prompting you to schedule a document verification appointment on March 13 or 14. At this appointment you will be required to submit all enrollment supporting documents (see below) and a $375.00 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied to your final trimester tuition payment (see fee schedule below).

Once spots are filled, applicants can choose to be placed on a waiting list based on space available and age parameters in each classroom.  Parents will be notified if a space becomes available and will be required to submit the $125 registration fee within five days to secure the placement.

*PLEASE NOTE:  The pre-registration period is only open online between 1/22/19-3/8/19.   Registration will reopen on 3/18/19 to fill any remaining spaces.

If your child is on an IEP (Individualized Education Plan):

    • If you are enrolling in the all-day preschool program, please continue with the online enrollment process.
    • IEP students enrolling in a half-day (morning OR afternoon) preschool program option, please DO NOT use the online system.  Currently enrolled students on an IEP that request to remain in preschool for the 2019-2020 school year will receive an enrollment letter by January 17, 2019.  There is no charge for students on an IEP attending the half-day program.

If you have questions about enrolling students on an IEP, please contact Cassie Caudill at 614-413-8764.

DO I NEED TO LIVE IN THE NEW ALBANY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ATTEND THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM?

Living in the school district is a requirement for enrollment.  Parents of students with special needs who live outside the New Albany district should contact their local school district to learn about preschool options

DOES MY CHILD RECEIVE BUS TRANSPORTATION TO PRESCHOOL?

Children who have Individualized Education Plans, or IEPs, receive bus transportation back and forth from preschool as required by law. Peer model students do not receive transportation on school district buses. Parents of peer models will need to drop off and pick up their children daily, or arrange before and after school care through a private child care center that provides transportation services.

The district only transports students to/from their assigned bus stop. The district does not transport to babysitters or other locations (i.e., dance lessons, birthday parties, playdates).
