To help students and parents with academic, social/emotional, and college/career counseling, NAHS has four comprehensive college and career school counselors. Each counselor is responsible for a group of students based on the student's last name. 

 

This model:

• strengthens student/counselor relationships. Students are assigned a counselor to guide them through the transition to high school, make course selections each year, and assist with future planning. Counselors know students better when it comes time to look at colleges by working with them over a four-year period. Students work with one counselor for all their academic and social/emotional needs.
  
  
• increases availability. College Center drop-in days occur four days each week.
  
  
• enhances professional development. Professional development opportunities have been developed and shared within the department. All counselors have attended The Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions, a leading authority on trends and practices in college admissions.
  
  
• provides a dedicated student space. The College Center has an atmosphere dedicated to research, career exploration, and college topics.
