Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Shackleford

My name is Brooke Shackelford, and I am the librarian for the Intermediate, Middle and High Schools, grades 4-12. This is my sixth year as a teacher in New Albany, and my 18th year of teaching altogether. Past subjects I have taught include Science, Language Arts and Math in grades 6-8, in addition to being a librarian. I grew up in Westerville and graduated from Otterbein College (before the name was changed to Otterbein University!) with a degree in Elementary Education.  I continued on to earn my Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Teaching and Learning. Seven years ago I decided to go back to school to earn my certification to be a school librarian from Kent State University.

In the past, I have been the advisor for the middle school Book Club and middle school Drama Club. I also have been a leader for the group People to People, chaperoning students on educational trips to Europe. I have volunteered for the Ohio Wildlife Center as a wildlife rehabilitator for 12 years and have been active in community theatre with various groups in the Central Ohio area. I live in Worthington with my husband and two boys. Owen is three, and Benjamin was just born in July, 2017.

I am so excited to work with students to help them find great books and to help them become information literate when they do research. Visit the library to say “hello” and pick up a great new book!
