Hello 4th graders, I am Trina Anderson, your Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher. This will be my 6h year teaching 4th grade in New Albany. I have a variety of educational experiences from several districts and across a number of grade levels. I began my career teaching 8th grade where I taught 4 levels of math each year. When I had my daughter, Elizabeth, I took a few years off to spend time with her before heading back to the classroom. I landed in several long-term positions, including K, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. When I returned full-time, I took a position as a 2nd-grade teacher, then landed in New Albany in 4th grade. I love teaching 4th grade and can’t wait to start the new year.
I attended Michigan State University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences. After graduation, I worked as a General Manager in the service industry for several years. While I enjoyed my career, I knew that it was not something I would want to do long-term. I made the decision to return to school to pursue a degree in education. After several years, I earned my second degree in Teaching Elementary Mathematics and Education from Madonna University. I completed my coursework for a K-12 Reading Endorsement at Mount Vernon Nazarene. I intend to return to school over the next few years to obtain a Masters in Education.
When I am not in school, I stay very busy with my husband Ron, daughter Elizabeth, and two dogs, Baxter and Giselle. You will find me out, rain or shine, every afternoon walking them. Elizabeth, my 10th grader, is a smart, funny, and creative young lady. She and I can be seen at New Albany Ballet Company just about every day. During the holidays and summer, all of us are on the go visiting family. Both sides live near the beach, one on Lake Huron in Michigan and the other on Hilton Head in South Carolina. Summer we head north, winter we head south, best of both worlds!
