Degrees and Certifications:
I am Trina Anderson, and I am so excited to be teaching 4th grade next year. I come to New Albany with a variety of educational experiences across several grades. I have taught in 8th and 2nd with long term assignments in 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, and Kindergarten. I am thrilled to have landed in 4th grade. I believe that it has a perfect balance of independence and innocence. I entered the field of education determined to not only teach, but to ensure that all my students understood the importance of an education.
I attended Michigan State University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences. After graduation, I worked as a General Manager in the service industry for several years. While I enjoyed my career, I knew that it was not something I would want to do long term. I made the decision to return to school to pursue a degree in education. After several years, I earned my second degree in Teaching Elementary Mathematics and Education from Madonna University. Recently, I completed my coursework for a K-12 Reading Endorsement at Mount Vernon Nazarene. I intend to return to school over the next few years to obtain a Masters in Education.
When I am not in school I stay very busy with my husband Ron, daughter Elizabeth, and Goldendoodle Baxter. You will find me out, rain or shine, every afternoon walking him. Elizabeth, my 4th grader, is a smart, funny, and creative young lady. We are always working on a new project and finding new uses for old items. We are usually covered in glue, glitter, and paint. During the holidays and summer, all of us are on the go visiting family. Both sides live near the beach, one on Lake Huron in Michigan the other is on Hilton Head in South Carolina. Summer we head north, winter we head south, best of both worlds!
