Degrees and Certifications:
The first thing I want to share with you is that I am a New Albany Eagle through and through! I grew up in New Albany and attended New Albany schools from Kindergarten through grade 12! I am proud to have a history with this school and community. After high school, I went to Miami University and graduated with my degree in elementary education. I taught preschool and substitute taught for three years. After taking more classes at Capital University, I became certified to teach special education and got my first full-time job with Columbus Public Schools where I taught 7th grade resource room for five years. During that time I also went back to school and finished my Master's Degree in children's literature and reading at The Ohio State University. Since then, I have taught at New Albany Elementary. I have taught reading and math intervention in grades 2-5 and also 3rd grade. The 2022-2023 school year is my 29th year teaching!
When I’m not teaching school I love to spend time with my family. It’s getting harder and harder to find time to be together since my kids are getting older, though! I’ve been happily married for 31 years. My husband and I have three children. My oldest son, Will, is a 2014 graduate of NAHS and 2019 graduate of Miami University. My second son, Jack, is a 2017 graduate of NAHS and attends Fortis College. My youngest daughter, Annemarie, is a 2020 graduate of NAHS and attends the STEP program at O.S.U.
People often ask me why I decided to become a teacher. That’s easy: I had great teachers at New Albany and they inspired me to be the best I can be. I am so thankful that now I get to be a teacher at my alma mater. I strive every day to help my students reach their full potential, and love learning.
