Degrees and Certifications:
¡Hola! The 2022-2023 school year marks my fourteenth year of teaching at New Albany High School, where I currently teach Spanish levels three and four. When I am not focused on my classes, I enjoy my role as the Global Languages Department Chair. Additionally, while at New Albany High School, I have had the opportunity to lead students and colleagues on several service-learning trips to Spanish-speaking countries. These experiences have allowed me to continue my learning and broaden my cultural perspectives. As a Spanish teacher, I strive to encourage my students to develop a passion for communicating in the Spanish language and to inspire them to broaden their own cultural perspectives. I hope my students leave my class with a desire to speak Spanish and continue their language learning throughout life.
I was raised in Cincinnati, where I graduated from Sycamore High School. In 2009, I graduated summa cum laude from Otterbein University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. While at Otterbein, I studied abroad in Chile, Argentina, and Costa Rica. In 2020, I graduated with my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership from Oakland University. In my free time, I am a sports fan and enjoy cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams. I am an Ohio State football season ticket holder and greatly enjoy attending home games with my family each fall. GO BUCKS! I also love traveling, especially to Spanish-speaking countries, and I have a goal to travel to all fifty states. My husband and I got married in Kauai, Hawaii in 2021 which allowed me to visit my thirty-second state. I look forward to visiting state number thirty-three soon! Additionally, I spend much of my free time with my dogs Millie (a cockapoo) and Penny (a golden retriever) who keep me busy and entertained!
I am looking forward to another great year of language learning! Go Eagles!
