Miss Jones

Believing that education is essential to personal growth and that learning ensures the well-being and success of the youth in our world today, I chose a career in teaching.  As a Spanish teacher, I hope to encourage a passion for communicating in the Spanish language, for it is by creating enthusiasm for particular subjects that a teacher stimulates true learning.

I am entering my eleventh year of teaching at New Albany High School, where I currently teach Spanish levels three and four.  When I am not focused on my classes, I enjoy my role as the Global Languages Department Chair. Additionally, while at New Albany High School, I have had the opportunity to lead students and colleagues on several service-learning trips to Spanish-speaking countries.  These experiences have allowed me to continue my learning and to broaden my cultural perspectives.  I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.

I was raised in Cincinnati, where I graduated from Sycamore High School.  In 2009, I graduated summa cum laude from Otterbein University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.  While at Otterbein, I studied abroad in Chile, Argentina and Costa Rica.  In my free time, I am a sports fan and enjoy cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers.  I enjoy traveling, especially to Spanish-speaking countries, and I also have a goal to travel to all fifty states.  Additionally, I enjoy taking walks with my four-year-old cockapoo, Millie.
