Mr. Hilbrands

Teaching is my second career. Before teaching I worked in our family business as General Counsel. I used to tell my wife that when I retired I wanted to be a teacher. As fate would have it, the family sold the business when I was in my mid thirties. The day after the sale I enrolled at OSU and earned my Master of Education. I completed my student teaching at New Albany and the high school hired me in 2000.

I love to learn. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Arizona State University. In addition to the Master of Education, I earned a Juris Doctor from Capital Law School in Columbus. Each year I take numerous graduate courses to increase my content knowledge and improve my teaching skills. In 2016 I was selected to be a reader (grader) for the 2016 Advanced Placement Government and Politics exam. I have taught Introduction to Humanities, World History, AP European History, Government, Blended Government, and AP Government and Politics.

My wife, Vicki, and I have been married for over thirty years. She is a wonderful person and I am lucky to have her as my partner in life. We have three daughters - all independent and making a difference in the world. We love to travel and learn what we can about life outside of Columbus, Ohio.
