New Albany High School
Degrees and Certifications:
I’m Mrs. Blevins and I will be your son or daughter’s intervention specialist this year. I am very excited for the year and know it will be a good one.
A little bit about me. I live in New Albany with my husband and step daughter, Claire. She is a junior here at New Albany. I have a 20 year old step son that is a junior at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Lastly, I have a 21 year old daughter who is in nursing school and works at OSU medical center in the ER. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats. The cats we have inherited. My husband, step daughter and I love traveling, especially to the Caribbean with the pretty blue water.
I grew up in Gahanna. After high school I went to Ohio Dominican University where I received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Upon graduating I got a job in the corporate world as a trainer working for one of the largest credit card issuers in the world. This opportunity allowed me to transfer to San Antonio Texas where I was for 3 years. While down there I received a masters in business administration. I decided to move back to Ohio where there are all four seasons instead of hot, hotter, and hottest as I like to call the seasons down there. Back in Ohio I started my journey working on a masters in education. I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Spring 2015. In 2018 I received a masters in educational leadership (administration). I am Orton Gillingham certified which is a method of teaching students with dyslexia and struggling readers.
Although this is my 1st year teaching in New Albany this is my 8th year teaching. My first year I was in a self contained emotional disturbance unit in Southwestern City Schools. The last 6 years I have worked in Newark City Schools. I was at middle school where I taught 6th grade and then 8th. Last year I was at an elementary school where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. I love what I do and I am always looking for new ways to spark students' interest in being lifelong learners.
