Mrs. Pecikonis

Welcome! I am eagerly entering my third year teaching at New Albany High School! This is my ninth year of teaching math and it is flying by as my enjoyment of working with high school students continues to grow! Math has always been my favorite subject and I love the moments when it "clicks" for my students. I have taught a variety of math courses throughout my career so far, and I'm looking forward to continuing my teaching of Algebra II and Geometry this year. If you are my student or a parent of one of my students, I'm very excited to meet you!

My husband and I enjoy adventures to new places, eating at local spots, and playing with our Siberian Husky puppy, Ahsoka. We also love the Buckeyes, reading, and movies! We spend as much time as we can with friends and family. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati for college at Xavier University. I studied mathematics and professional education at Xavier and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics in 2018 at Miami University. Between reading for personal studies and continuing education courses, I love to keep growing in every aspect of my life.

A small part of me always considered becoming a teacher. As I continued in my math courses, the desire only grew. I love how math is beautifully connected and there is always more of it to discover; looking at concepts from various angles only takes us deeper in understanding! I enjoy helping students discover how intricate their brains are when difficult concepts make sense. High school was such a pivotal season of my life and I love that I get to walk through these years with my students now; so much more than the math content, my greatest joy in my work is my students. I'm looking forward to the games, musical performances and any other opportunities I get to watch you do what you love. You will be valued, respected, supported, and celebrated in my classroom.
