New Albany-Plain Local School District has been awarded a $4,934 grant from the Ohio Environmental Education Fund. The “Tracking Is Science” grant will fund the purchase of PC Tablets and GPS Binoculars for student use in collecting data while in the field this summer.
Students, parents and community members participating in this summer’s STEM Expeditions class “Geology, Wildlife Tracking and Digital Photography” will initially use the equipment as they work to identify mammal species in Ohio and Oregon.
They will use the equipment again as they continue their research and travel to Africa during summer 2013. In the future, the equipment will also be available for any K-12 teacher to use during the school year. The grant was written by Andy Moore and Sandy Willmore and will also be facilitated by educators Rob Hood, Claire Monk, Pat Samanich and Leslie Shea.
