In preparation for the November 29th, 2012, visit from Dr. Paul Farmer, New Albany students and parent volunteers raised $25,000 for an orphanage in Haiti. Students sold bracelets and T-shirts with the theme “Hand in Hand with Haiti,” as well as purchased and decorated water backpacks to support the needs of impoverished people of the island nation.
