New Albany Science Fair Showcases Student Research – 2013 Award Winners Named

February 5, 2013

Science days or science fairs are occasions for the display and evaluation of student-originated, inquiry-based scientific research projects. The New Albany Science Fair (NASF), which has returned to the school district after many years, is organized and run by a team of teachers from elementary, middle and high school, and parent volunteers – working together to bring this wonderful opportunity to all the students of the district. The NASF follows the guidelines set by the Ohio Academy of Sciences, the premier non-profit organization that fosters science in Ohio and conducts annual meetings and State Science Days.

The 2013 New Albany Science Fair was conducted on January 26th, where students from grades 3-11 presented the results of their work on poster board displays and were evaluated by several teams of judges. Out of the 13 individual projects and 15 team projects, four projects that scored a superior rating have been selected to advance to the District
Science Fair on March 16th at Columbus State Community College. At the school level, the winners from different categories of evaluation were also presented with medals for their achievement.

The winners of school level individual and team projects, as well as the projects moving on to the district competition are:
