Dr. Neil K. Gupta
Dr. Neil K. Gupta has been recommended as Director of Teaching and Learning for the New Albany-Plain Local Schools by Superintendent April Domine, pending approval by the New Albany-Plain Local Board of Education, during its regular business meeting on Monday, April 23.
“We selected Dr. Gupta from a field of four outstanding finalists,” said Superintendent April Domine. “Dr. Gupta’s experience in secondary education, combined with his work on state and national committees, made him the strongest match to our district vision and mission of creating innovators. He will be a tremendous asset to New Albany-Plain Local Schools as we continue to improve curriculum and instruction methods and measures.”
“The Director of Teaching and Learning position is critical as we see increasing rigor, particularly at the middle and high school levels, coming from the new Common Core standards along with an increased focus on college- and career-readiness,” according to Dr. Marilyn Troyer, Chief of Innovation, Improvement and Human Capital. “We are confident Dr. Gupta’s connections to state and national work in the areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), teacher evaluations and educator development will help us lead growth and improvement in these areas.”
Dr. Gupta will replace Randy Pfeiffer, who has served in the Director of Teaching and Learning position in a one-year interim capacity. Mr. Pfeiffer’s appointment followed Madeline Partlow’s departure from the position to serve as 4/5 principal at New Albany 2-5 Elementary School.

His committee focus has been the integration of 21st Century Skills with high expectations for educators. Dr. Gupta also has worked in a variety of capacities where he provided guidance and feedback to educators seeking career growth.
Dr. Gupta has a passion for STEM education, working on an appointed committee to develop the process to grant more than $6 million dollars for STEM school programs. He also serves on the Ashland County Bioscience Consortium.
In addition, Dr. Gupta is a highly successful grant writer, having earned over $1 million through successful grant applications.
