For excellence in financial reporting for the production of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending in 2012, the New Albany-Plain Local School District was presented an award with distinction from the office of the Ohio Auditor of State, Dave Yost.
Kevin Servick, Regional Representative for the Auditor Yost presented the award to District Treasurer Rebecca Jenkins and the NAPLS Board of Education at the June 24 School Board meeting. “The Auditor of State’s office perform these reviews on over 5700 governmental entities annually and only recognize approximately 100 with this distinction,” said Mr. Servick.
“This is really a testament to the leadership of the school board and our former Interim Treasurer Peg Betts who conducted much of the work on the CAFR, a first for the district and former Treasurer Brian Ramsey that began the work with the Board,” said Treasurer Jenkins. “This is a great springboard as we move forward in our work to provide transparency and accountability to our community.”
“While a school’s primary concern is its students, it must also remain accountable to taxpayers,” Auditor Yost said. “Accurate record-keeping is clearly a priority for the New Albany-Plain Local Schools, and I am proud to present this award to the district.”
