New Albany, OH – The Board of Education of the New Albany-Plain Local School District has selected Margaret Betts as Interim Treasurer. Betts will begin work immediately to take over the duties of outgoing Treasurer Brian Ramsay. Ramsay has accepted a similar position at Westfall Local School District.“I am pleased to welcome Ms. Betts to the New Albany Schools Community and am confident that she will be a tremendous help during this transition period,” said Board President Laura Kohler. “Her qualifications and years of experience will be a great asset to us as we work towards the future.”
Betts brings to the district over 35 years of experience working in education, having served most recently as the District Treasurer at Granville City Schools and as the former Assistant Treasurer at Upper Arlington Schools. During her career she has served as Treasurer for three additional districts and as the Deputy Director of Management Services for The Ohio School Boards Association.
Betts will serve in the interim role until December 31, 2012. While serving the district, Betts will focus on four primary goals:
- Facilitate day to day operations of the district to continue to inspire trust and confidence with stakeholders;
- Review and facilitate work with the Auditor of State to review investment policies as well as perform the necessary work for a combined bond and operating levy issue;
- Prepare the district for the transition to a permanent treasurer position;
- Participate in an exit interview evaluation of the district status adding to the support of a transition to a permanent treasurer.
“I am grateful to the Board for moving quickly to identify and secure the necessary leadership to fill the vital role of district treasurer,” said Superintendent Domine. “I look forward to working with Ms. Betts as we continue our efforts at the district to be the leader in reinventing education.”
