The K-1 Elementary recently partnered with Soles4Souls, a non-profit organization that collects gently-used shoes to give to people around the globe. For many of the recipients, these shoes will be their first pair. Two-hundred pairs of shoes, along with $1 for each donation to cover shipping costs, were collected during the week of November 18th. Teacher Amanda Upp thought of this as a wonderful philanthropic connection to the current Artist in Residence dance program — ”dancing with our feet and providing shoes for souls around the world.” Timing of the shoe drive was scheduled during the week of parent-T\teacher conferences to encourage participation.
