Announcing the arrival of the K-12 Nature & Renewable Energy STEM Education Center

April 24, 2012

The OSU Solar Decathlon Building, formerly located at the Columbus Zoo, has arrived in New Albany and is now located adjacent to the Vernal Pool Sheds.  Later this spring/summer, it will be permanently installed in the north meadow of the main School Campus.

This net-zero energy building, a gift from The Ohio State University to the New Albany Schools will serve in the future as a K-12 Nature & Renewable Energy STEM Education Center.  It is valued at $300,000.  An anonymous donor to the New Albany Community Foundation gifted the $8000 required to have the building moved to New Albany.

Future plans call for this 800 square foot, self-contained building to serve as a learning center for New Albany students and the greater school community.  The building also came with 1000 square feet of decking, stairs and handicap ramp and a large amount of valuable permeable pavers for constructing an ADA-compliant path leading up to the building.
